CDK Global has a really great company culture with 4 core values. The employers always try their best to encouraging each other. They provided unlimited support to intern to grow and learn.

What I liked

I loved the internship team and the overall experience of being an intern with CDK. They had a great project for me and other interns in the team to work and we never felt that we were left out or didn't have support. Through the leadership speaker events, we were able to ask our questions to the CEO, CTO, COO and many more!

What I wish was different

Advice

Always keep learning. CDK Global has a strong set of values that you can learn from through its website. Through this internship, I was able to learn more about what each value stands for and how we can apply those in our day-to-day lives.

What I liked

I liked the culture of the company and the team that I worked on. The team I was on gave me a lot of independence and the ability to try to solve problems myself. They also gave me strong support if I needed it.

What I wish was different

I wish that there had been less required internship activities. Some of them were fun, but others just got in the way of actually working.

Advice

Don't be afraid to speak up during meetings. Whether you have a question or have a new perspective, the employees at CDK want to hear from you and hear what you have to say!

What I liked

The internship had a mentor program which I really valued, as it allowed me to gain exposure to different sectors of the company and have support along the way.

What I wish was different

The program did not start until June 10th, meaning I had a full month in May off. While this was nice, the program ended the day before I flew back to school. I wish the program timeline had been adjusted slightly.

What I liked

I worked on an amazing team that was energized and inclusive. They truly cared about my professional development. I had great opportunities to work with people across the organization globaly, while learning both internal and external communication strategies.

What I wish was different

I spent the summer working primarily in Cincinnati; however, given my boss/family living in Illinois, I spent some time in both offices. I wish I could have scheduled more time to be in the Hoffman Estates headquarters (in Illinois), so that I could have worked more closely with my team during some organizational changes. Otherwise everything went very smoothly.

Advice

Be prepared to be professional and understand that changes happen in all organizations. It just so happened that my experience was during a large restructuring; though, I was able to gain much better insight into how the corporate world works and how to be a valuable team member. It was a phenomenal learning opportunity.

I loved how interns were fully immersed in the work culture and were treated exactly like full time employees. My manager went above and beyond to ensure I had an educational and enriching experience.

I wish I would have had some more projects to work on and I also wish that the full time employee morale was a bit better.

I loved how we were tasked to do some challenging tasks but also were not micro managed. Our boss challenged us to do our best work.

I wish we had more time honestly. 12 weeks went by very quickly.

Do not be afraid to fail. You will mess up and you will do something wrong. But if you stay in your comfort zone and don't branch out you won't learn a thing.

What I liked

I really enjoyed the people and the focus CDK has on helping their interns grow and learn during their summer at the company. CDK always gives the interns real and relevant work that they can see making an impact on the product for CDK.

What I wish was different

I wish the company hadn't been so, to put it best, 'chill'. I felt like although they strongly cared, there wasn't as much organization and structure as I would've liked.
