OUR MISSION AND IMPACT
To improve the health of the people in our communities every day with quality and compassion.
The advancement of knowledge is a major component of our mission. We educate and train current and future caregivers, preparing much of our region’s health care workforce to meet patients’ needs for years to come. We’re also engaged in health research throughout our system, studying cutting-edge therapies and analyzing the effectiveness and value of the care provided to patients across the nation.
With more than 12,000 team members, Baystate Health is one of western Massachusetts’ strongest economic engines, delivering over $2.6 billion in yearly economic impact (as of 2009).
In service of our mission, we work to bring health care out of the hospital and into the community. From support of community-based organizations, to programs that help prepare our young people for future success, to early interventions in wellness and nutrition, we aspire to deliver—and achieve—a higher state of caring in every relationship and at every stage of life.
OUR DIVERSE WORKFORCE
The diversity of our workforce enables us to meet our community’s needs with cultural competence and compassion. We’ve been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign as a national leader in providing inclusive and equitable healthcare, and our Employee Resource Groups, which help unite diverse constituencies of our team members with the organization as a whole, have received national acclaim.
