Tax Intern

What I liked

There are so many things I liked about this internship. The people here are very easy to talk to and always willing to help, and it feels like a group of friends working together as everyone is friends with everyone and has lunch together everyday. Next, the work is meaningful. You are actually preparing tax returns for people and if you come willing to learn and work hard, you will learn a lot and there are endless returns for you to do. During tax season, it is mainly focused on teaching you how to get a 1040 most of the way done for a reviewer, then during the summer you get to dive deeper into 1040s, bookkeeping, business returns, and tax planning to get a good understanding of everything tax related. Overall it is a great place to work and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn how to do taxes.

Advice

If you come ready to learn and ask questions, everyone here will help you. Also, do a full-time internship and put school on hold for a semester. You will learn more here than you will in a classroom.

What I liked

There were several things that I really enjoyed about my internship with ATLAS. First, my coworkers here in the Cincinnati offices were fantastic. They were extremely outgoing, patient, and welcoming. Secondly, I got plenty of experience with individual tax returns and in the summer I was able to learn a lot about all types of business tax returns. Finally, the culture was great, as we had many parties, events, etc.

What I wish was different

There really is not much that I wish was different. I worked at the West Office while most of the other interns were at the East, so it was a little difficult when learning initially. I started going over to the East office twice a week for a little bit and I wish I would have started doing that earlier on.
