I really enjoyed working with my coworkers and manager. They were all amazing people! I also really enjoyed meeting all kinds of interesting and amazing people during my time as a teller.
What I wish was different
I wish I had the opportunity to visit more branches during my employment with Atlantic Union Bank. I enjoyed working with my branch extensively, but I was interested in also seeing other ways of managing and expanding my understanding of the banking industry.
Advice
Don't be afraid to ask those around you for advice or help. Everyone I met at work was kind and understanding and always ready to help me. I learned a lot from them and want to stress the importance of doing so.

Seasonal teller
May - August 2018 • Verona, VA
What I liked
Being a bank teller involves lots of attention to detail and remembering policies and procedures, which plays to my strengths. I also had excellent coworkers.
What I wish was different
Because bank tellers only need a high school education, I saw a lack of respect from customers and sometimes my peers for the position, even though my full-time colleagues were extremely skilled and knowledgeable.
Advice
This was a good way for me to see some finance roles from behind the scenes. I would recommend to any student interested in applied math that they seek out an opportunity like this.
