Biomedical Engineering Intern

May 2018 • Caledonia, MI

What I liked

I learned a lot about the business as a whole from marketing to manufacturing to quality. I got to do a lot of continuous improvement and lean leadership practices which I found very useful!

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have gotten more technical engineering experience - problem solving specifically.

Advice

To take on any project they present to you because all of them have a different lesson/experience. When other engineers (not your boss) ask you to help out on a project, DO IT. Every engineer has a new experience to offer and new opportunity to touch a different part of the manufacturing floor.

Medical Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor

August 2014 • Caledonia, MI

What I liked

I enjoy the challenge of the troubleshooting required to maintain and improve assembly and packaging equipment. Also, our company has entered a time where the opportunities to grow and improve are endless.

What I wish was different

I wish our company would not have been constrained by a corporate business model for as long as it was. Now that we are self controlled, there are many new and exciting opportunities for our teams to succeed in.

Advice

Be busy. Look for work. If you have to be told what to do day in and day out, you are not applying yourself. Ask to learn new things, ask to follow a co-worker to a job/task and learn it. Stay out of the damn box! Every opportunity to learn something new is an investment in yourself.
