Artisan Rotational Training Program - Associate

What I liked

After graduating from college, I could not have asked for a better place to start my career. Through the Artisan Rotational Training program, I have gained exposure to so many people and experiences. In addition, the ART program pushes me. Whether that is taking the series 7 and 63, giving presentations on each of the firm’s investment teams or pursuing a CFA designation. This job has helped me grow personally and professionally more than I could have hoped within my first year of working full time. Not to mention everyone at Artisan wants you to succeed and will help in any way they can. There are so many opportunities to get involved with the firm outside of the program. I’m an active member of The Women’s Networking Group, through which I’ve built relationships with the many successful women at Artisan. Getting advice and hearing the experience of women in the industry has been invaluable. The benefits are second to none. Artisan has 100% 401K match (up to the IRS limit), free lunch, employer funded health care, on-site gym and parking.

What I wish was different

Advice

It is important to get out of your comfort zone and make relationships with the people at the firm. Connections are key. I would also advise to stay intellectually curious. I think that is a big part of the investment management industry. The world is constantly changing, and it is important to stay up to date and motivated to continue learning.

Human Capital Intern

What I liked

I like that I have been able to rotate to different roles within my department which allows me to have a more well-rounded experience. This is especially beneficial as a college student deciding what career path I want to go into. I feel like I am producing meaningful work that my team appreciates, which motivates me to work to my full capacity. Artisan offers many ways to network with other interns at the firm. Our internship program includes a summer kick-off event, small intern networking groups, lunch & learns and a volunteer service opportunity. At the end of each summer we have our Annual Intern Appreciation Event which is a day filled with team bonding. The event concludes with a reception with our managers, mentors and fellow interns. On top of all this, free lunch, snacks and beverages are provided. We also enjoy the benefits of having an onsite fitness center and free parking!

What I wish was different

Advice

Interning in the investment management industry is a unique experience. I am surrounded by ambitious, high-performing people who are passionate about what they do. Take advantage of this and ask questions, dip your toes in different areas, and network network network!
