IoT Supplier Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Denver, CO

What I liked

It was a great experience! The university relations team puts on many events throughout the summer to network with other interns and executives at barbecues, arcades and baseball games. I worked on real projects and was able to contribute during meetings. There is also a case competition where all interns work to solve a business problem for Arrow. I would highly recommend this internship program.

Inside Sales Representitive

May - August 2019 • Bloomington, MN

What I liked

They flew all the interns from around the country to their HQ in Denver for a Case Study Competition that we were working on throughout the summer. The first time we were in Denver in June, was to meet our team and learn what the case study was. The second time we were in Denver was to present our case study projects to a panel of judges.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have gotten more hands on experience. I wasn't always given a lot of work to do as the department I was working in was mostly sales support. I did work on modifying and updating 3 daily reports that I sent to my team. I also was able to work with the renewals section of my team to help them find order numbers, other important information, as well as book a few orders.

Advice

Make sure to ask for things to do. Ask for project to work on and ask to learn new things. Everyone is more than willing to work with you and help you, but you have to take the initiative and remind them that you are an intern and are there to learn and help them.

Shipping Department

May - August 2018 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

Great environment and friendly staff. Regardless of your position/job title, everyone is treated equally. Overtime was always offered and they bought you lunch if you participated.

What I wish was different

Breakroom was very nice though you had to pay for snacks. Many other companies offer complementary snacks for theri employees. Shifts were ten hours per day, four days a week; more flexible shifts would have been nice.

Advice

It's a good job for students, especially those majoring in business management. You get to see how orders are processed through offices and fulfilled in the warehouse.

Sales Intern (Financial Services)

May - August 2018 • Denver, CO

What I liked

I worked on the financial services team of a huge technology distribution company. I was able to talk with employees and customers and work on spreading awareness about the services our team can provide and bring in many opportunities for our team.

What I wish was different

A lot of my work was repetitive. I wish I could have worked on a few more tasks.

Advice

I learned a lot about cold calling and sales through this experience. Talking with customers or employees over the phone is a lot more meaningful than emailing back and forth.
