What I liked

This internship was amazing! I was able to accomplish so much in my summer. Training took two weeks and equipped us with the knowledge and ability to dive comfortably and strategically for invasive milfoil. You will meet amazing people who are just as passionate about the cause as you are. Dominic was a wonderful boss and cared about the well-being of his interns above all else. Taking a chance on Dominic and Aqualogic was the best decision I could have made!

What I wish was different

Advice

Come in with an open mind! It is not a typical internship, you will dive a ton in conditions people don't think of diving in. You will have to push yourself in ways you never thought you would. But the payoff is worth it!

Diving Intern

What I liked

This was an extremely fun and engaging summer internship. I got to dive almost every single day in some of the most beautiful lakes I've ever seen. Dom and Becky are two of the nicest people you will ever meet, and they are fully committed to your development as a diver. They have worked very hard and invested a lot to ensure that you are given high quality gear that professional divers use.I dove in lakes around the Adirondack Park in NY and this area is beautiful, there are lots of fun hikes and fishing spots to go to, if you enjoy the outdoors you will love it here.

What I wish was different

I lived in a dorm style room with five other people (12 total) in the house. This was not the most ideal living situation, however it did not have a huge impact on how much fun the experience was. I have also talked with the owners and they told me that the living situation would be changing for this next summer. I wish that I had more "fun" dives available to me. We went on about four dives (after completing our PADI training) that were not working dives. These were a lot of fun and were a great extra weekend experience, but I felt that I would have liked more opportunities like that. The owners also told me that they have changed up the schedule for this summer and will be offering more "fun" dive opportunities.

Advice

Be ready to be very flexible. Diving is unpredictable and you need to be ready to change your plans and adapt on the fly. Diving is an unforgettable experience, but is also challenging so come prepared and ready to learn and grow as a diver and a person.
