What I liked
Overall, my experience at Andrews exceeded my expectations of what an internship was. Instead of grabbing coffee and shredding documents, I was exposed to real world selling.
The first week was spent at the Dallas office location doing training and learning the ins and outs of the company. One of the training days was “Beer 101” where we tasted and tried beers.
After training was over, my time was not spent sitting at a desk doing busy work. I was job shadowing a different person every day. On these job shadows, I spent my time out in the market. I went to different bars and restaurants in the Dallas area. The person I was working with that day, always bought me lunch!
I also really appreciated the fact that if I was starting my day out in the market, I didn’t have to go to the office first. This really saved me a lot of time and overall made my job easier.
Later on in my internship, I was assigned to a summer project. I really liked that even though there was 5 sales interns, we all were given a different project. My project focused on getting European Imports on tap at hotels.
When I was told my project, I was really nervous about being able to accomplish it to be honest. But I had the support of Andrews.
I really like how their company is organized. Instead of employees, everyone is a team member. All the managers are referred to as coaches, and they truly support you.
With their support I was able to experience the whole sales cycle. From prospecting, reaching out, creating presentations, scheduling meetings and then even pitching my proposal to high end hotels.
Though my hard work over the summer, I was able to sell The Four Seasons Stella Artois on draft.
At the end of the internship, all the interns were responsible for creating a final project and presenting it to Andrews higher-ups and our coaches.
Over all, this internship taught me to believe in myself. I had no idea of what I could accomplish until I was given a chance with Andrews.
