Loved the long hours and opportunity for overtime. Also working outdoors is great.
What I wish was different
It is a very physically intensive labor oriented environment and sometimes that can wear On a person. I also wish that we were able to get more hours of overtime.
Advice
It is not for everybody. In fact you have to be a resident of Alaska to even apply. It’s not for the faint of heart.

What I liked
Good people, Not a super fast paced work environment but still challenging.
What I wish was different
Wish I could have spent more time in the field than in the office doing paper work in a cubicle.
Advice
Don't be afraid to ask supervisors about being moved to a different department or asking for different work. Your goal at the internship should hopefully be to gain new experiences so don't be afraid to make that happen.

What I liked
I was out side half the time doing drive way inspections. That was cool
What I wish was different
I wish I did more hands on engineering. I worked under two engineers which was good. But maybe learning Civil3D would have been good to learn.
Advice
If you want to know what it is like to work for the government. This is a great what to get an incite on what they do.
