What I liked

The coworkers were very nice and welcoming, learned a lot, and had the opportunity to organize the project and learn what I wanted.

What I wish was different

Wished I had more time so an earlier start date would have been nice. Like a 12-week internship instead of 10.

Advice

Spend more time going to intern events, there were a lot of cool events but I didn't attend as many as I could have.

Set a goal each day and talk to more people. Your mentor isn't the only one that can help with your project. Everyone in the company is quite knowledgable and can probably help in some way if you reach out.

People are very nice and welcoming. It felt like a family to me, and I felt very impactful in the project that I was working on.

What I wish was different

I don't think I'd like to change anything except for checking on my own health a little bit more seriously since I had a sinus infection.

Advice

Work extra hard.

Human Resources Intern

What I liked

The company is extremely forward moving and their engagement with interns was fantastic. The team of interns had many team-building exercises and there was often work across teams. I was able to spearhead a few of my own projects and felt that I had a real impact on the company. I was able to learn about different tiers of HR and get a better overlook of the field. The Headquarters is also super cutting edge and there are many different spaces to work in, making the days feel much shorter.

What I wish was different

Perhaps if there were more HR interns within the company to collaborate. The majority of the interns were in business and technology fields, however they also seemed very happy with their experience.

Advice

Utilize your time here as best as you can, there are many connections that can be made, and by asking questions you will get the chance to work on many projects

What I liked

I liked the hands-on coding experience that I received and felt like I was able to make a difference in a large company, which was very rewarding.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to connect with more employees over the course of the internship and explore more of the departments within the company.

Advice

It's important to note that this role was coding full time rather than being split between coding and working with hardware. It's essential to keep this in mind as you consider this position.

I wish I had worked on a different team that had more social opportunities.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Even if someone doesn't know the answer, they'll direct you to someone who does.

What I liked

We had a 3 day Bootcamp to start us off where we truly learned the ins and outs of the company. It was a great overview and intro to the program. I also worked very closely with a mentor on my team throughout the internship which was extremely helpful. I felt like she was a good resource to ask questions and talk to about the internship. The work itself was also great, I really felt that I was making an impact on the company and completing useful tasks.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have been placed in a separate location as being a little way outside of DC didn't make things extremely accessible a lot of the time.

Advice

A piece of advice I would give would be to have an open mind going into the experience and don't be afraid to ask questions. Everyone was really there to help me out, and I'm glad that I took the opportunity to get to know my coworkers and talk to them about what they liked at the company, as well as working with the large code base and asking for help along the way.
