Alabama Rural Ministry

About Alabama Rural Ministry

Nearly 3 out of 10 Alabamians are considered poor and survive on fixed and limited incomes. Most of these are the eldery, like Ms. White, and children. Living on a fixed income makes it difficult to make needed repairs to keep their home warm, safe, and dry. Alabama Rural Ministry (ARM) matches compassionate and servant-hearted volunteers with these families to restore their homes and build hope.

In the summer, ARM hosts mission teams serving families through home repair and also runs a children's day camp in Tuskegee. ARM has positions for summer camp counselors that can receive academic credit. These include construction coordinators, day camp counselors, and team leaders. There are also academic internships and Volunteers in Service to America (VISTAs) throughout the year in several disciplines.

Our mission: ARM discovers develops, and deploys spiritual leaders who, as disciples of Jesus Christ, minister with rural and under-resourced communities to create sustainable homes, strengthen families, and build strategic community partnerships for the glory of God.

“I loved being able to help people through repairing homes that were affected by the tornado while also being a mentor for the kids that came through every week. I also grew stronger in my faith ”

“I enjoyed the day to day work of managing my construction site, as well as the planning that went into each day. It was really great to be the head of a site. I also really liked getting to manage the work done.”
