Exposure to basic aspects of archival work including working with metadata/digital assets, archived legal records, archived periodicals, archived legislative records, etc.
What I wish was different
More opportunities to shadow the daily work functions of archivists including collection development archivists, records management archivists, museum archivists/registrars etc.
Advice
Be prepared to lift boxes up to 40 lbs, wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you can go up and down ladders in, and be prepared to walk across a large facility to retrieve and replace records and objects
