What I liked

I loved being able to receive a hands-on experience in the world of fundraising for the arts because it gave me the opportunity to actively learn about what it takes to run a performing arts center. The Arsht Center is a staple to the arts scene in Miami, and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work in such an incredible place with such passionate people.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have been there more often, I so looked forward to coming to the center for the internship.

Advice

Make the most of it! Ask a lot of questions and get involved. There are so many wonderful opportunities and connections to be made at the center.

What I liked

I loved getting to be a true part of my department’s team, and how much my supervisors cared about how I was doing, and how I was enjoying the internship.

What I wish was different

I wish that within the site there was a bit more planning for interns, we mostly revolved around an open desk area, and on busy days there sometimes were not enough available computers, leading to individuals using their own.

Advice

I would say to be open to suggestions and ready to help out. Going around and asking others in your department other than your supervisor if they need assistance is a great way to get extra experience and make new connections.
