Accounting Intern

September - December 2020 • Hays, KS

What I liked

The technology/workflow of the office and how welcoming and knowledgeable everyone was. There is a huge network of people available to help with experience in a lot of different areas. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to help me when I asked questions and would often go above and beyond to give me more information that could be helpful on a future project that may not even pertain directly to their project.

What I wish was different

Not much. I was exposed to a large variety of projects and was able to expand my knowledge and experience in multiple areas.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions! Asking good questions shows that you are truly interested in what you are working on and want to learn as much as possible.

I really liked the culture and the wide range of experiences I got to have at Adams Brown. Even though it was a modified internship due to COVID-19, the firm made an effort to give me the opportunities I wanted, plus some I never thought I would get to have!

Advice

Be willing to try any opportunity that is offered. It may not be what was originally in your job description, but everything you encounter can help you determine what you want your career path to look like.

Accounting Intern

June - July 2020 • Colby, KS

What I liked

Adams Brown gave me incredible experience that I may not have had the opportunity to at other firms. They gave me the responsibility to complete various tasks, such as, tax returns, audits, etc. The atmosphere was very welcoming.

What I wish was different

With 2020 not being the usual ideal year, I wish I could have experienced client meetings and/or fieldwork during auditing.

Advice

Be open to trying anything during your internship, you can learn a great amount from these professionals.
