What I liked

Everything! I got to work closely with the higher-ups in the Alumni Foundation and learn a lot of information about the back side of fundraising. I also got to witness and contribute to the planning process of building a fundraising program and planning specific fundraising asks. I also got to work in a team with other students, have flexible work hours, great pay, I was very engaged with the local businesses and community, and I got to play a large role in developing the student program for this year.

What I wish was different

Nothing! I loved it

Advice

I would advise to only pursue this position if they are very self-driven, because although there are tasks to complete every week, the scheduling is completely in the students hands. But I would recommend trying summer work that is outside of your comfort zone! I tried this finance/business internship as a science major and not only did I provide a really valuable and unique perspective, but I also feel like it really widened my perspectives and taught me a lot about the world that I would not have learned otherwise.
