About SVH Services/Blue Ridge Autism And Achievement Center

SVH Services is a regional non-profit operating St. Vincent’s Home, the Blue Ridge Autism & Achievement Center (BRAAC), SVH adult services, and SVH Family Services. Our mission is to meet the needs of individuals with unique learning challenges across the lifespan.

Our programs are located in Roanoke, Lynchburg and Lexington. St. Vincent's Home was an orphanage built by St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Roanoke on March 1, 1893 and was staffed by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Kentucky. A school was designed to meet the educational needs of the orphans and later became known as The Achievement Center. In 2009, Blue Ridge Autism Center (BRAC), established in September 2002, and The Achievement Center merged to form Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center (BRAAC). BRAAC operates as a DBA ("Doing Business As") under St. Vincent's Home. Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center’s mission is to serve children and families who are faced with unique learning challenges, specifically autism and learning disabilities, in and around the Roanoke Valley. Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center (BRAAC) is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education to serve students ages 2-22. BRAAC provides specialized educational programs in a private day school setting as well as direct and consultative educational services in public schools. BRAAC has three locations located in Roanoke, Lexington and Lynchburg.

“Everyone who works there is incredibly kind and welcoming. They are all dedicated to their jobs and to the service of the students. I learned so much through observation and asking questions. You can learn a ton about behavioral science, education, and motivating work environments.”
