I could not say enough positive things about working for a small business. My one piece of advice would be to find a company whose culture suits you well. I can't imagine what the last year would have looked like for me if my work environment was toxic, filled with drama or unnecessary stress. Eight-hours a day, five days a week is a lot of time to spend at place that makes you miserable. So don't.
