What I liked

Love the people I work with and most of the people that come in. Also enjoy getting to bring home money every time, which is very convenient. I honestly don't know if I have anything bad to say about my job.

What I wish was different

I wish one of the managers would stop being so picky and learn that we are human beings, not just a robot there to work and leave.

Advice

Always keep a smile on your face no matter the situation. Even if you are not happy, your smile will make someone else smile.

What I liked

Coworkers are the most enjoyable aspect of the service industry. I like how I have continual opportunities to bond with them and customers. The environment is fast-paced and stressful, but I love it and find it exhilerating.

What I wish was different

I wish I had service experience elsewhere before jumping into this job, which is a little intense for a first serving position. I was very lucky to have this opportunity, and I am so glad that I still work there.

Advice

Find quick ways to keep your cool. It is easy to become overwhelmed or frustrated. Remember that each table is a new opportunity to start fresh with new people.

What I liked

What I wish was different

Advice

Working as a waitress is hard. The pay is low and the tips aren’t always great. That being said, you meet some great people and learn some really valuable skills. I’d recommend it, not as a career, but as a stepping stone on the way to something better.

You are rated by all guests who pay with card through a survey. They display these scores to all of your coworkers, and highlight people who had a bad shift, calling you out and embarassing you in front of everyone. Evaluating scores should definitely be done one on one in private.

Advice

There are some guests who you just can't please, or who simply do not tip. Don't take those people's actions personally.
