The Supervisors and other officers are hard working and intelligent and make the working environment very efficient. Plenty of overtime opportunities. The PSA program provides a great Segway into working as a full time sworn officer with the Ocean City Police Department.

Public Safety Aide

May 2018 • Ocean City, MD

What I liked

I love the experience of doing policework. It was more than internship, as I was actually paid to go on patrol with a car and work with police officers, going to see crime and emergency services first hand. From everything to learning how to do the paperwork to learning how to work a bad accident and go on traffic stops was a great learning experience.

What I wish was different

Nothing, I love doing my job.

Advice

You have to be vigilant at all times, both for your safety and for integrity purposes; after all, you're in a marked patrol car. Your conduct is expected to be held off-duty as well.
