Laboratory Chemist

November 2019 • Mayville, ND

What I liked

I like sciences quite a bit, so being able to help a PhD of Chemistry with lab work was exciting. I was an underclassman when I first started and I believe it has helped me in many ways to be more prepared for the work force outside of college. This gave me another thing to look forward to after university!

What I wish was different

I wish the commute had been less, as I lived outside of town so the driving was a little tedious. Other than the above, The experience went very well as i was able to work in the lab and at home when possible and/or needed. The flexible schedule was very appreciated.

Advice

The experience was a great way for me to better understand how a laboratory career would be. I was able to experience doing research in a lab before graduation, and thanks to that I have more of an idea of what I want to do after graduation.

Biology Research Intern

October 2017 • Mayville, ND

What I liked

I really enjoyed being able to work in an environment directly related to my field of study. I was able to learn on hand experience that has helped me in classes and develop skills I will be able to take with me into my future career.

What I wish was different

I don't have any complaints about my experience. I was able to get one on one training, and really be involved in the work I was doing.

Advice

I would suggest that any student who might be interested in science get an on campus job in research. I know in talking to many of my classmates that they were nervous or afraid to apply because of one thing or another. Honestly it's a great experience and you won't regret it in the least. I have loved every second of it and I'm so happy to have had this opportunity.
