Nanny

August 2016 • San Dimas, CA

What I liked

Flexible Hours and the most wonderful relationship the children and their families built with me. This job was definitely the highlight of any other I have had.

What I wish was different

To have set Scheduling.

Advice

This type of job is very demanding yet so rewarding and would not trade the past few years for the world. If considering Nannying, use your skills whatever they may be to make yourself and the family's easier. In example for my self, I always planned ahead for dinner and activities how the day would go as well as allowing myself time for school work and tasks I needed to do personally. Planning head and incorporating any skills you may use that will benefit in a positive way will make the experience even more memorable and smooth over all.

What I liked

I loved getting to care for the kids for what sometimes was very long days. Getting to play games and play outside all day it never felt like a job and I really don't even consider it one!

What I wish was different

I really cannot think of one thing I would change, I love the kids they are so respectful and truly a joy to hang out with, their parents are very nice and respect that I try my best to provide their kids with fun days while they are at work and I just feel lucky that my summer job it something that I get excited to wake up for.

Advice

Something I tell my self every day when I watch the kids is their parents are not paying me to sit them in front of a tv all day and I just think of my mom when my siblings and I were younger. I never saw her laying around she always gave parenting her all- doing whatever we wanted to do and being incredibly active in our games and things we did even if she was tired or didn't quite understand the nonsense game we had made up. if you take on the role of a baby-sitter, it is easy to think its a job you can just sit on the couch and earn money for it but just remind yourself that children are only young for so long, while they may not remember every particular thing you did for them they WILL remember how much fun they had for you and the smiles, hugs and kisses they give you because of your dedication to them will be more than enough to pay you back for it.
