About Better Futures Minnesota

Better Futures Minnesota (BFM) fuels and guides a man's desire to turn his life around and walk a new path toward better health and success. We also focus on changing the unjust systems and practices that produce poor results, perpetuate inequities, and sustain cycles of social exclusion experienced by formerly incarcerated, African American men.
Our social enterprise is bigger and more ambitious than a program, however. Better Futures attacks the root causes of social and economic inequalities by working at the intersection of environmental, social, economic, and racial justice.
We embrace a group of people (primarily African American men) living in chronic poverty with histories of persistent unemployment, untreated mental illness, addiction, incarceration, and homelessness. Their circumstances are a public health problem that originates in the core hurts and trauma experienced by these adults. Their circumstances are also a tragic example of how racial, economic, and social inequities keep these men locked out of our society.
We are actively engaged in supporting these men's desire for a much better future.
