Crew Lead

June - August 2018 • Brentwood, CA

What I liked

It's very welcoming and personal, I was in a group chat with every other employee and we were all close with each other.

What I wish was different

I wish some people took their job more seriously. Yes it was a fun place to work, but you're still working.

Advice

A job is a job, you're not getting paid to hang out. Do your work, pull your own weight, and if you're with the right people you'll still have a great time.

Server

July - August 2018 • Franklin, TN

What I liked

The working environment was always kept organized; the supervisors and managers were very helpful and attentive to both working conditions and workers.

What I wish was different

There were multiple nights where we were very under or over-staffed; more organization with hiring and setting schedules would help.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, and an eagerness to help will take you far.

What I liked

I loved the people I was working with. While sometimes the work environment got rough, the people around me, whether I knew them or not, made it so we got through it together. The entire experience was truly an uplifting time of my life, I understood my value in a workplace, and got a clearer picture of what I wanted to do in the future.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to work more between my summer class and other obligations to build a bigger network, create better relations, and have more exposure for a great experience.

Advice

You need to start somewhere, and AMC is just as good, if not better, than other places. Definitely keep your head high and join the Crew!

Theater runner

May - July 2019 • Lawrenceville, GA

What I liked

I loved the experience of providing customer satisfaction through food and fun. I also loved meeting new people and working with my coworkers. I loved the benefits that I received from AMC such as free movie tickets and discounts off food and beverages.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have continued working at such a fine establishment throughout the year. However, this job was too far from my university.

Advice

I would encourage workers to engage with their coworkers and find different ways to go above and beyond.

What I liked

The other workers and the management is very friendly and knows how to do their job. Flexible schedule as well.

What I wish was different

The theater is often understaffed which makes it hard to get everything done in a timely manner.

What I liked

I liked the crew member atmosphere. Every employee was friendly and willing to help.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten the job earlier in the summer rather than when I did. I wish I would've had more time to work there.

Advice

No job is ever too small, no matter what you are doing at your job your work is valued.

What I liked

I really enjoyed working with people in my same age group. It felt like a family every time I went to work.

What I wish was different

I wish the pay was higher because the job required a lot of its workers. Minimum wage is definitely not enough.

Advice

Be flexible. There are four different types of jobs that you have to be open and adaptable to in order to be successful.

Bartender

August 2017 - October 2018 • Glendale, AZ

What I liked

I liked how friendly people were at the bar compared to being on the crew. Bartending invites a lot of interesting characters that keeps the job entertaining.

What I wish was different

The work schedule came out the day before that work week began so I wish it was a two week out schedule rather than a one day out schedule.

Advice

Smile! If you are always smiling this will make you happier as a person and get you more tips because customers will love your friendly attitude.

Amc associate

May - August 2019 • Burleson, TX

What I liked

It was a very nice first job and taught me a lot about the working life.

What I wish was different

I wish I was paid more but it was good enough for a small summer job.

Advice

Having a summer job instead of sitting around and doing nothing is a great use of your time and it’s nice having money to go out.

Server

June - August 2019 • Mesquite, TX

What I liked

Easy to speak to staff and managers

What I wish was different

The culture, individual people were great but when dealing with issues with guests, its intimidating to ask for help at times.

Advice

The stuff you have to deal with is not worth the pay and tips, being a server at one of the biggest theaters in the nation is extremely harder than being a server at a sit-down restaurant.

Corporate Financial Analyst

May - August 2019 • Leawood, KS

What I liked

Everyone was super nice and very willing to assist me when I had questions. I feel like I was given import work (some of it went to the CEO/CFO) that I gained a learning experience from.

What I wish was different

Because I had just switched majors, I didn’t feel I was very prepared for the position once I started completing work.

Advice

Be confident but also ask questions! At the end of internship I got an evaluation and they thought I did great, but that I needed more confidence in my work.

May - August 2019 • Apple Valley, CA

What I liked

The staff were super friendly made some great connections and I loved getting free movie tickets. I am a big movie fan so being able to watch all the films in theaters was like a dream come true their benefits are great.

What I wish was different

Anything that I didn't care for were things that couldn't be helped or changed such as customers attitudes and maybe the cleaning at the end of the night. There were no janitors that came in and cleaned it was just the staff.

Advice

I would say even if you get rude customers who are upset for things out of your control you must remain calm and friendly no matter what. The nicer you are the harder it is for them to continue to be rude or upset it just makes them look bad. And being friendly and smiling when dealing with customers goes a long way.

AMC Associate

What I liked

All of my fellow employees and managers were easy to work with and helpful. I also experienced plenty of flexibility with scheduling.

What I wish was different

Work sometimes wouldn’t be over till midnight or later. I would’ve preferred working a few more daytime shifts.

Advice

Although the job was fine, I feel it didn’t give me much career experience. In the future I’ll be pursuing an internship in a filled I’m interested in.
