Amazon Associate

June - August 2019 • Kenosha, WI

What I liked

Posting of jobs was very orderly. The entire organization is very organized and follows specific guidelines to the T.

What I wish was different

I wish we hadn’t had to stay an extra hour everyday and that the jobs weren’t so utterly boring.

Advice

If you like rigid, boring work, Amazon is for you! If you need more stimulation as you work, look elsewhere.

June - August 2019 • Eastvale, CA

What I liked

I liked the pay rate from amazon and the full time hours.

What I wish was different

I wish the conditions in the work environment were better and I wish HR was better at providing resources for their employees.

Advice

This full time job is very physically demanding and very fast paced so If you can keep up it is very good money to rack up for the summer.

Warehouse Associate

May - August 2019 • Springfield, VA

What I liked

Fun, engaging work. The work environment was very friendly, a lot of opportunities to speak your ideas to leadership and be heard.

What I wish was different

That the warehouse got those new fans installed quicker. It got super hot a couple of days outta the week. The higher ups and managers would keep us more in the loop about new hires, so we would know when we would have to step up a lot.

Advice

People shouldn't slack on physical labor jobs, and if you can, everyone should work one physical labor job in their life. It can be a great experience where you meet a bunch of people you'd never expect to talk to, my friend group while I worked at amazon was me and these two older African American ladies and they were the best friends I had there. Any physical labor job can be a good experience for people, especially the part where you lose a bit of weight.

Warehouse Stocker

June - August 2019 • Stockton, CA

What I liked

I liked being guaranteed my hours every night! And I like being able to work with a set team of other associates so that I had an idea of how each night would be.

What I wish was different

I wish we had more time for breaks because we technically had 15 minutes but it took about 6 minutes to get across the warehouse and you have to spend that amount of time coming back too so the typical break only lasted about 3-5 minutes.

Advice

It’s a great place to work at as a summer job. I was able to make and save a lot of money very fast giving me the freedom of choosing whether I want to work or not during the school year so I can focus on classes and extracurriculars.

Warehouse employee

June - September 2019 • Troutdale, OR

What I liked

They give a lot of hours and pay weekly. It was the perfect summer job if you're looking to save a good amount of money.

What I wish was different

There is not a lot of opportunity to take time off. You work 40+ hours per week and I would have liked a little more time to go on a trip with my friends

Advice

The job involves a lot of standing, walking, and lifting which is important to know before applying. It is not the most glamorus job but I can get through it knowing that I will only be there for a few months.

Fulfillment Associate

July - August 2019 • Denver, CO

What I liked

The money was nice and so were my coworkers

What I wish was different

The supervisors were rude and disrespectful. There was little to no safety regulation, forcing one person to carry team lift boxes or lift 50+ pound boxes above our heads. Turnstiles were used “for security” but side doors were propped open daily. Van drivers were creepy and tried to hit on me. I was rarely paid fully on time. I could feel my soul die every time I entered this building.

Advice

Don’t work here.
